Melissa (Karges) Asmamaw hails from Dayton, Nevada, and although “international experience” was limited in this small town, it was there a passion in her began to grow to increase the population of heaven.
She finally made her first trip in international missions while an undergraduate attending Concordia University Irvine. This trip was the opening which led to her serving six years as an English teacher and relationship builder in Hungary. She spent three of those years with the LCMS Office of International Mission before becoming a part of the inaugural Mission of Christ Network Mission Partner team in 2014.
Melissa then spent a year serving MCN in the USA while finishing a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Concordia University Wisconsin, which then led her to Ethiopia. She spent two years developing the counseling program at Bingham Academy, an international Christian School in Addis Ababa.
Her passion for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others continues, and she looks for new (and old) ways to interact with others to make Christ known.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s agreed upon stipend amount will become the property of MCN. In the alternative, excess funds may be used to support Mission Partner in missional activities under a new MOU, or Mission Partner may assign, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world, and not for the financial benefit of MCN.
