John Mehl

Executive Director of MCN

Whatever remains of your life, live as those sent by Christ (for) it is the office of everyone to instruct their neighbor…and this power is given to all believers. When you have performed this highest work, seek to become Christ’s apostle, to serve all people, so that they may come unto God as you have.”

Martin Luther

A Note from MCN's Executive Director

Welcome to the Mission of Christ Network (MCN) website. It is my prayer that what you find here motivates you to be more involved in God’s mission either in partnership with MCN or in another way into which God is leading you.

I’ve been told something like “relationships are what is valued here most” in every place I’ve served in the past 35 years. This should not surprise anyone when we consider our Creator’s emphasis on relationships — ours with Him and with our neighbor. Jesus said, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Luke 10:27)

It is amazing that our God chooses to work in and through us in all kinds of interactions to proclaim the Gospel as the Spirit rebuilds the broken relationships caused by sin. MCN is committed to equipping and sending baptized Christians to be intentional proclaimers of the Gospel for this very purpose — especially cross-culturally.

I invite you to join us in this work. Click on the opportunities found in the footer of this page for ways you can be part of serving in God’s mission.

In Christ,

Board & Staff

God’s mission involves all Christians. All Christians are missionaries (1 Pet. 2:9). Christians are not only to live lives that glorify God (1 Pet 2:12) but are to seize every opportunity presented to share His Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ to all (1 Peter 3:15). While some may be called into the specific ministry of Word and Sacrament (the ordained), and some may be sent to accomplish specific tasks in missionary service (Acts 8:28-31) – whether witness proclamation or mercy work — all are called to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8-10).
