Danai and Nipa's Story
Danai and Nipa Chowwiwat are descendants of pioneer Hmong Christians in Thailand. Danai graduated from Chiangmai Bible Institute in 1984, Chiangmai, Thailand. Nipa graduated from Saowapha College in 1984 with a degree in nutrition. They were married on the Christmas Eve of 1984. Danai and Nipa have three adult children, two daughters and one son.
In June 1985, they moved to the village in Chiangmai Province called Khun Chang Khian to be church planters. While doing ministry in the village Danai also taught part time at the Chiangmai Bible Institute. After 3 years of work, the first people that the Holy Spirit led to faith in Christ were the village shaman and his family.
In 1990 Danai came to study at Lincoln Christian Seminary, Lincoln, Illinois. After graduation in 1992 Danai and Nipa returned to Thailand to ministry in Changmai and at the Changmai Bible Institute. In 2000, Danai began doctoral studies at Hamline University, St. Paul, MN where he earned a EdD. In May of 2006, they establish Children Ministry in Thailand.
Danai also has a degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine and plans to use his medical knowledge and skills to do mobile medical ministry in Thailand. Nipa is a professional seamstress and very gifted in ministering to women and children. She will focus her ministry on Vocational Training for Women’s Economic Empowerment.
Danai and Nipa are members of Gathering Place Lutheran Ministries, Arden Hills, MN. They have dual US and Thai citizenship.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
