Tim & Diane Esala

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5

Tim and Diane's Story

Since 2015, in response to God’s call to tithe the first fruits of their retirement years, Tim & Diane have served as missionaries with Stronghold Cambodia, a faith-based, nonprofit NGO whose mission is to empower Cambodian communities for positive change through Christian care and learning. At Stronghold, children and their families are introduced to Jesus in a country that is 95% Buddhist. Over the years, Tim & Diane’s primary roles have been teaching ESL to 3rd – 9th grade economically disadvantaged students and sharing Jesus’ love through singing and nurturing relationships with the children. Tim’s handyman skills were put to good use and Diane utilized her nursing experience to promote health & hygiene with the students and families.

Although Tim and Diane have been unable to return to Cambodia since the fall of 2019, they have continued to serve Stronghold long distance as Diane took on the role of Fundraising Manager and Tim assisted with finalizing the building plans for a new facility. They will return to Cambodia in January 2022 with the commitment to stay until Stronghold’s new home is complete. Tim will serve as Construction Manager as he oversees and monitors on-site building progress and problems. Diane will again serve as an ESL teacher while continuing to work as Fundraising Manager.

Tim & Diane invite you to partner with them through prayer and financial support so they can support Stronghold’s ministry and help Stronghold’s dream come true for a permanent home where Cambodian children can come to play, learn and hear about Jesus, their Stronghold, Shelter and Shade.

Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s agreed upon stipend amount will become the property of MCN. In the alternative, excess funds may be used to support Mission Partner in missional activities under a new MOU, or Mission Partner may assign, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world, and not for the financial benefit of MCN.

Tim and Diane’s retirement plans didn’t go exactly the way they expected . . . but God had better plans, plans that included leaving pieces of their hearts in Cambodia.
