Hannah's Story

Hannah Hester was born in Nanchang, China. She was adopted at the age of five by Richard Hester. She grew up in a small town in Iowa. She has one younger sister, Sarah, who is also adopted from China.

Hannah decided in third grade that she wanted to be a teacher. Her father encouraged her to go to Concordia University Seward, Nebraska. He had heard that Concordia was a good choice for a friendly Christian environment. Attending Concordia University is what sparked interest into missionary work. Hannah went on her first mission trip to Puerto Rico in 2014. Hannah graduated from Concordia University in May of 2015 with a degree in education and a degree in mathematics. She also received a Lutheran teaching diploma (LTD) and a minor in Spanish.

Hannah started serving in Taiwan in 2015. She has worked in elementary, middle school, and high school settings sharing the love of Jesus with all her students and colleagues, both American and Taiwanese. Hannah is excited to take on more projects to help with the missionary team in Taiwan, both at Concordia Middle School in Chiayi and the surrounding community of Chiayi, Taiwan. She will get to see over 400 students and witness to them about the love of God.

Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s agreed upon stipend amount will become the property of MCN. In the alternative, excess funds may be used to support Mission Partner in missional activities under a new MOU, or Mission Partner may assign, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world, and not for the financial benefit of MCN.
