James was born in Algona, Iowa and made his first trip to Seoul, South Korea when he was two months old. Growing up in a missionary family, James spent his younger years overseas in Asia and the Caribbean. After returning to the States his parents settled in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Upon graduating high school, James spent some time at community college and has since been traveling throughout the United States working a variety of jobs. In his youth James lost his father to cancer, which pushed him away from his faith. While traveling James felt God’s call in his life and returned to the body of believers. He is planning on going back to school in the fall to prepare for ministry. During this pivotal time in James’ life, a door opened to serve the Khmer people at Stronghold on Fish Island in Cambodia. James is not only looking forward to spreading the Gospel through ESL teaching and community outreach, but also to learning from the people with whom he will interact.

In his spare time James enjoys bodybuilding, training/fighting Muay Thai, cooking, reading, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. Family and friends are very important to James, and he wouldn’t be where he is today without their support.

Please pray that God would guide his steps and use James for His purposes as he embarks on this new journey.
