For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? Judy Carew will be serving with MCN at the Fukushima Lutheran “3-Strands” English School teaching English, building relationships and sharing the gospel through action and words.
Born and raised in southern California, Judy was exposed to a variety of cultures early on, but Judy was most intrigued with the Asian cultures. Judy spent her senior year of high school as an AFS exchange student in Japan; living with a Japanese family, attending a Japanese school and being totally immersed in Japanese culture.
Although Judy became a believer at an early age, it wasn’t until she spent many hours alone, armed with her Bible and time with the Lord, that her faith really became her own.
Upon her return, Judy attended San Francisco State University where she received a BS in Business Management and a BA in International Relations. After graduating, Judy returned to Japan for one year to teach English with the JET program.
Judy, being a teacher at heart, spent the next 20+ years homeschooling her 5 children and involving them in travel, missions and cultural exchange as much as possible.
Having a long-held desire to reach Asians with the gospel via English, Judy is excited to see how the Lord has and will work through this God-ordained opportunity in Fukushima.
In her free time, Judy enjoys time with friends, ministering to International students, learning new things, meaningful conversations, travel, cultural exchanges and time at the beach.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
