You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9

Rev. Dr. Michael Lockwood serves as a teacher at China Lutheran Seminary in Taiwan, focusing primarily on biblical doctrine and Luther studies. This is the only Lutheran Seminary in Taiwan, and the only Lutheran Seminary anywhere in the world that teaches in Mandarin Chinese. As a result, it serves an important mission of training pastors and church workers to not only reach people in Taiwan with the Gospel, but also to serve as missionaries to the wider Mandarin speaking world of over 1 billion people.

Michael grew up on the mission field in Papua New Guinea, and served as a parish pastor in Australia for 17 years. More recently, he served for 3 years as a theological educator in Asia with LCMS International Mission. His great passion in life is to share with others the wonderful treasures of wisdom and grace that are found in God’s Word. Over the years he has taught pastors and church workers in many countries throughout the Asia Pacific region. In this way he discovered the joy of bringing the Gospel to people from many nations, and the hunger that many people in this region have for God’s Word, if only someone will bring it to them.

Naomi was born in Melbourne, Australia, where she grew up in a Lutheran household. She has lived in various states of Australia, St Louis, USA where their two boys were born, Chiayi, Taiwan, and now lives in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Naomi knows her husband is gifted by God in sharing God’s word with people from all walks of life, so has happily followed him around the world, picking up teaching work and openly sharing her faith with students and people wherever they go. Their move to Hsinchu is relatively new, and she is just beginning to be involved in the local China Lutheran Seminary community, as well as international prison/detention centre tract/bible ministry.

God has blessed Michael and Naomi with two teenaged boys, Asher and Jadon, who are rapidly growing into men of God.

Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
