And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
David and Lois will serve as house parents in a dormitory for college-age minority-Christian young adults in a large Central-Asia city. Missionaries working in Central Asia have established the dormitory as a pilot project where these young Christians can be discipled and mentored in their faith and Christian living while pursuing higher education and work opportunities. As dorm parents, David and Lois will mentor these young Christians, and pray and study the Bible with them. The goal of the project is to build up the next generation of the young minority-Christian church in Central Asia through discipling individuals, fostering Christian community, and mentoring purposeful outreach.
A native of Quincy, Ill., David has a journalism degree and theology degrees from each of the Missouri Synod’s two seminaries. He served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Glen Cove, N.Y., before accepting a call in 1985 to be director of news and information for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and editor of the Synod’s official periodicals. From 2005 to 2009, he was the assistant to the executive director of LCMS World Mission, and from 2009 until his retirement in 2016, he served as a career missionary in Germany. He currently volunteers as the newsletter editor for Mission of Christ Network.
Lois grew up in Peoria, Ill., and has bachelor’s degrees from Iowa State University (family environment) and the University of Maryland (accounting). She has worked as a home economist and, for many years, in banking as a commercial-finance field examiner. She enjoys aerobics, pickleball, reading, and friends.
David and Lois ask your prayers for their ministry in Central Asia and for the entire MCN mission team, that our heavenly Father would provide the necessary gifts and servant hearts to carry out the work to which He has called them.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
