This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5

Maria Sasieta grew up in Carrollton, a small town in central Illinois. She is the daughter of Alfonso and Elena Sasieta with one younger sister, Katerina Sasieta, and one older brother, Sito Sasieta. Maria attended high school at Visitation Academy in Saint Louis, MO where she spent four years living with her grandparents. Maria continued her education at Concordia University, Nebraska and graduated with a degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, and Spanish. Maria also enjoyed taking a few semesters of Mandarin classes.

Some of Maria’s fondest memories come from the summers she would spend with her younger cousins from Peru. With a Spanish background, she learned the value of languages and the importance they have in forming deep relationships.

From an early age Maria has had a heart for missions. Growing up, Maria was fortunate to have been able to visit different countries and see other cultures; however, in the summer of 2014, Maria received a taste of what it is like to be in the mission field when she volunteered at a children’s home in Costa Rica.

Maria serves at Stronghold Cambodia, a Cambodian ministry that focuses on empowering communities for positive change through Christian care and learning. Maria’s main role is teaching English. Whether this be in the evening program for older students or during the daytime for 3rd-6th grade, Maria prays for deepening relationships.

Maria enjoys reading, spending time outside, being present in the home, and sharing time with friends and family.

Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
