Serving Opportunity
MCN sends Mission Partners to work with Lutheran Urban Mission Agency (LUMA). LUMA walks with local churches and communities, empowering and equipping them to meet spiritual, social, and physical needs.
Mission Partners focus especially on outreach to New Americans – immigrants, refugees, and international students – seeking to establish personal relationships with New Americans that lead toward Gospel conversations. They create and engage in programs that facilitate the development of these relationships and engage others from LUMA’s partner churches and organizations in the same activities and relationships.
You Will Be
- Building relationships with partner churches and area ministries
- Identifying and meeting felt needs of New Americans (i.e. English teaching, driving lessons, material provision, etc.)
- Supporting second generation youth ministry efforts
- Building relationships and sharing the Gospel with New Americans
- Supporting food pantry operations
- Identifying, raising up, and training other ministry volunteers
