Ruth Moon grew up on ranches in Colorado with her parents and three brothers. As she spent time working with children through church and as a counselor at Lutheran Valley Retreat, she developed a passion for education and sharing God’s love by spending time pouring into kids. She chose to study Elementary Education and Spanish with an endorsement in ESL at Concordia University, Nebraska, with the hope that this would give her the opportunity to serve God with her gifts. During her time at Concordia, she became seriously interested in serving internationally. She spent a month studying Spanish in Costa Rica and student taught in Ecuador, experiences which solidified her desire to serve the Lord internationally.
After graduating from Concordia in 2022, Ruth spent three years working as a Mission Partner with LightHouse Transformation Ministries in the community of Parrita, Costa Rica. Her work there primarily focused on working with youth within the Parrita High School where LightHouse provided English classes and ran activities for students during the lunch hour. During her time in Costa Rica, Ruth expanded her ESL skills as she planned and taught English classes alongside her teammates. She also grew in her ability to make meaningful connections and share the love of Christ with others through various means, such as hospitality, music, and art.
Ruth now works with Stronghold Cambodia, a non-profit located on Fish Island in Kampot, Cambodia. Stronghold provides a safe place for children in the community to learn, play, and hear the gospel in their own language.
Please pray for Ruth as God guides her to use her gifts and experiences to cultivate relationships and share the Gospel in Cambodia.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
