Wendy was born in Hong Kong. Her parents sent her to Christian school for a better education. The Bible lessons in school planted a seed in her heart in childhood. When Hong Kong was a British colony, she had easy access to learning English. She had a childhood dream of teaching English like Anna in The King and I movie. Unfortunately, that dream was forgotten after she got busy with life as an immigrant to America in 1983.
In 2016, Wendy almost died in a freeway head-on collision. God gave her a second chance in life. Due to the injury, she retired early in 2017. She became very active in her church in California while her body was recovering slowly. In 2022, she led a crafts ministry that served the church with various craft projects.
In the summer of 2024, Wendy joined a team of volunteers to do Vacation Bible School in Cambodia. She led Bible-related craft projects and fell in Iove with serving on the mission field. She heard that Cambodians are desperate to learn English, but they are too poor to access English learning. She felt guilty about how accessible English had been to her as a child in Hong Kong. During the trip, someone mentioned that the King and I movie was a true story and had happened in Thailand. That reminded her of her childhood dream of teaching English. At that moment, she received God’s calling to use English teaching to spread the gospel to children. In her second mission trip to Cambodia in 2025, a former missionary English teacher connected her with MCN. Now she is a mission partner specialist for Hong Kong.
Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund. The purpose for this is that any funds raised are to support missional activities throughout the world.
