Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Rachel grew up on a family dairy farm in Plymouth, Wisconsin with her parents and siblings. Here she learned to trust God through all circumstances, whether they be financial worries, fires, droughts, or illness, and also to continually love and serve those around her. From the heart of cheese country, she attended Concordia University, Nebraska to pursue a degree in secondary education, and took an opportunity to study abroad in Ireland and experience more of the amazing world God has made.

After graduation, Rachel spent four years teaching English, biology, and several other subjects at a Christian high school in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Although enrollment struggles caused this school to close, God’s goodness was still demonstrated through all of it. After this, Rachel began to truly contemplate teaching abroad, but was led by the Holy Spirit to teach life sciences in Mayer, Minnesota for three more years instead. These opportunities continued to shape Rachel as a Christian leader and role model.

Having a long held desire to teach overseas and knowing that God is an integral part of this desire and process, Rachel is finally following the calling that God has been nurturing in her heart for many years now.

Rachel will be serving as a teacher at Dakar Academy in Senegal. She will have the opportunity to teach not just missionary children, but others who may not know Jesus yet, and to share the Gospel through her love of English. Doing so also enables the local missionaries to stay on the field and continue to spread the Gospel in Senegal.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys making cards and sending others mail, hiking, and reading.

Any funds raised that exceed Mission Partner’s Total Cost of Missionary Service may be used to further support Mission Partner in missional activities, or Mission Partner may donate, after consultation with the Executive Director, any excess funds to one or more Mission Partners who are in good standing with MCN or to MCN’s General Fund.
