Samantha recognized her calling from an early age to walk in the footsteps of Jesus to engage in His mission in reaching the lost with the good news of salvation won for us by Christ.
She is the daughter of Pastor Dan and Amy Welch and was raised with her two younger sisters and younger brother in several different states in the Midwest, until her father accepted his current call to First Lutheran in Glencoe, Minnesota. She and her family grew up in the faith and were taught to lean on God during all seasons of life. Samantha was further inspired to discover new ways of living out the love of Jesus to those around her during her years of Sunday School, Confirmation class and summer camp, and by hearing and talking to a variety of missionaries. Combined with her first overseas experience in England and France in 2009, she knew that she wanted to one day serve God and His Kingdom abroad. After graduating in December 2018 from Concordia Nebraska with a degree in World & Intercultural Studies and Theology, she sensed God directing her steps to going overseas, trusting that He would pave the way.
Samantha is blessed with that opportunity as she has been called to serve at Stronghold Cambodia. There she works with fellow missionaries to teach English and Bible at the after school program there. She engages with the local community by being the hands and feet of Jesus as she shares in meaningful relationships.
Samantha’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:9, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” She is grateful for her family, friends, professors, and church family members for encouraging her along the way to pursue God’s calling on her life.
